Tras una larga espera, por fin tuvimos la oportunidad de celebrar este festival como es debido: un solo día con muchas bandas emblemáticas, ya que en la anterior oportunidad solamente tuvimos un roadshow de Slipknot y Judas Priest. Pero, ¿qué hizo especial este festival y por qué la espera sería agonizante para muchos fans? Tras enterarse hace muchos meses atrás de que el festival se realizaría en el continente, confirmándose Brasil con 2 fechas y una grilla extensa de bandas, así mismo lo sería en Chile, pero con un solo día. Además de la primera visita de las idols japonesas Babymetal por primera vez al continente. Se empezaría a ver la luz de la esperanza por la filtración de que se realizaría el festival en el país por una foto que subió Amon Amarth a sus redes sociales; ya después, el festival se confirmaría algunas semanas después que sería traído por la mano de Fénix Entertainment.

Por fin llegó el día esperado y para tener la primicia de estar en primera fila y disfrutar el show a pleno, estuvimos desde las 6 AM viviendo la fiesta en las afueras del predio. Fuimos a muchos recitales y festivales, donde ocurre esa mágica conexión: conoces gente especial y quizás amigos para toda la vida. Esta vez pudimos convivir con el grupo oficial de Baby Metal Argentina, que desde temprano habían decidido llevar comida y bebidas calientes para compartir. Escuchando historias de cómo llegaron a iniciarse en el metal gracias a la banda, esta fue nuestra oportunidad de encontrar a una admiradora que vino desde España y trajo pins conmemorativos con la sombra de Momo para regalar a otros fanáticos; la pueden encontrar en YouTube como Omajination. Además, conocimos a un par de fans nipones (Dehli-San y Osso-San), con la particularidad de que las van alentando por todos los países del tour latinoamericano, algo impresionante.

El festival empezó con la primera banda argentina invitada, la imponente banda NVLO, que se ganó un espacio en la escena del metal argentino a pulso propio, un ascenso meteórico de la banda que fue a tocar en el festival germano WACKEN. La banda ya calentó los motores de los fans por lo que se estaba por venir; lamentablemente, tuvo una pausa muy larga por problemas en el sonido, problemas que más tarde pasarían factura a otra banda. Reanudaron su repertorio ya que el público clamaba más canciones.
Luego fue el turno de la siguiente banda, Arde La Sangre; la banda remanente del grupo Carajo tuvo una presentación aceptable, la cual tuvo una pausa para que pudieran asistir a un fan que sufrió por un golpe de calor.

Después de una larga espera, fue el momento de las japonesas Babymetal; fue un inicio muy aclamado, comenzando con la canción «BABYMETAL DEATH». Lamentablemente, no se pudieron escuchar las voces por problemas técnicos con los micrófonos. Ese error apenas pudo solucionarse hasta la tercera canción «PA PA YA!!!», pero las dificultades técnicas perseguirían a la banda por muchas canciones más, algunas siendo más intermitentes. Continuaron deleitándonos con canciones como «Karate», «Gimme Chocolate!!!» y «Road of Resistance». Las ídolas japonesas Su-Metal, Moametal y Momometal, junto a la KamiBand, mostraron profesionalismo todo el momento, a pesar de los terribles desperfectos del sonido.

Luego fue el turno de los suecos Meshuggah con su metal progresivo, padres del djent, con una presentación impecable tocando clásicos como «Bleed», «Demiurge», «Rational Gaze». Realmente, una presentación perfecta que deleitó a los fans más acérrimos del metal progresivo.

Ahora era el turno de los Vikingos Suecos de Amon Amarth, trajeron consigo una escenografía majestuosa e impresionante, de esas que solamente ves en giras europeas o norteamericanas, pero gracias a la logística del Knotfest, fue posible verla en estas tierras.
Empezando con una fuerza abrumadora con «Guardians of Asgaard», tocando clásicos «The Pursuit of Vikings», «Deceiver of The Gods». El público se transformó en guerreros vikingos remando en «Put Your Back Into The Oar», luego brindando con el hermano Johan Hegg en «Raise Your Horns», acabando la presentación rompiendo el cielo con «Twilight of The Thunder God», la banda dejó todo en el escenario volviendo a los bangers argentinos en guerreros vikingos.

Por fin llegó el momento de la banda estelar de la noche, era el turno de los originarios de Des Moines, Iowa; mientras armaban el escenario, la gente no podía aguantar la emoción de verlos nuevamente, se sentía la electricidad en el ambiente. La banda arrancó con «(Sic)» y «Eyeless». Corey Taylor, en perfecto español, habló a su familia lo feliz que estaba de regresar y que, sobre todo en esta celebración del 25 aniversario, tocarían canciones de antes de 1999 como «Surfacing», «No Life» y «Scissors». Fue un show épico, por la química entre Slipknot y el público argentino.

CONCLUSIONES

-Pésimo control a la entrada donde te decomisaban hasta el bloqueador, dejaron entrar a un irresponsable con una bengala que quiso prender en Amon Amarth, pero recibió justicia social; es bien sabido que una bengala puede llevar a la cancelación del evento y nos hubiéramos quedado con las ganas de ver a Slipknot.
-Arde La Sangre debería haber ido primero antes que NVLO, porque se notó que NVLO tuvo más química con el público.
-El sonido en Babymetal fue desastroso, suerte que estuvimos en primera fila y se podía escuchar algo; lamentablemente, los fans desde atrás no pudieron disfrutar las voces a pleno, la banda dio todo para que continuara el show. Se tiene que tratar con el mismo respeto a todas las bandas para que puedan dar un show a pleno.
-El merch fue escaso y de muy mala calidad; las tallas más demandadas XL-XXL se agotaron en instantes, además de la pésima calidad del merch.
-El sistema de la tarjeta cashless es desastroso, lo veas de una u otra forma; se tiene que aceptar el método de pago que sea accesible, es un derecho por ley.
-Mejor control a la hora de vender las entradas; las entradas se vendieron un día anterior a la venta general por un error en la página web.

Review Knotfest 2024 The Metal Festival in Buenos Aires

After a long wait, we finally had the opportunity to celebrate this festival properly: a single day with many emblematic bands, since on the previous occasion we only had a roadshow by Slipknot and Judas Priest. But what made this festival special and why would the wait be agonizing for many fans? After finding out many months ago that the festival would be held on the continent, confirming Brazil with 2 dates and an extensive lineup of bands, it would also be held in Chile, but with only one day. In addition to the first visit of the Japanese idols Babymetal for the first time to the continent. The light of hope would begin to be seen due to the leak that the festival would take place in the country due to a photo that Amon Amarth uploaded to his social networks; Later, the festival would be confirmed a few weeks later that it would be brought by Fénix Entertainment.

The expected day finally arrived and to have the scoop of being in the front row and fully enjoying the show, we were from 6 AM experiencing the party on the outskirts of the venue. We went to many recitals and festivals, where that magical connection happens: you meet special people and perhaps friends for life. This time we were able to spend time with the official Baby Metal Argentina group, who had decided early on to bring food and hot drinks to share. Listening to stories of how they got started in metal thanks to the band, this was our opportunity to find a fan who came from Spain and brought commemorative pins with Momo's shadow to give to other fans; You can find it on YouTube as Omajination. In addition, we met a couple of Japanese fans (Dehli-San and Osso-San), with the particularity that they cheer them on in all the countries of the Latin American tour, something impressive.

NVLO and Arde La Sangre

The festival began with the first invited Argentine band, the imposing band NVLO, which earned a space in the Argentine metal scene on its own, a meteoric rise for the band that went to play at the German festival WACKEN. The band already warmed up the fans' engines for what was to come; Unfortunately, they had a very long hiatus due to sound problems, problems that would later take their toll on another band. They resumed their repertoire as the public clamored for more songs.
Then it was the turn of the next band, Arde La Sangre; The remaining band of the Carajo group had an acceptable presentation, which had a pause so they could assist a fan who suffered from heat stroke.

BabyMetal

After a long wait, it was time for the Japanese Babymetal; was a highly acclaimed opener, starting with the song "BABYMETAL DEATH." Unfortunately, the voices could not be heard due to technical problems with the microphones. That error could barely be solved until the third song "PA PA YA!!!", but the technical difficulties would haunt the band for many more songs, some being more intermittent. They continued to delight us with songs like "Karate", "Gimme Chocolate!!!" and "Road of Resistance." The Japanese idols Su-Metal, Moametal and Momometal, together with the KamiBand, showed professionalism the entire time, despite the terrible sound defects.

Meshuggah

Then it was the turn of the Swedes Meshuggah with their progressive metal, fathers of djent, with an impeccable presentation playing classics like "Bleed", "Demiurge", "Rational Gaze". Truly, a perfect presentation that delighted the most die-hard fans of progressive metal.

Amon Amarth

Conclusions

-Terrible control at the entrance where they confiscated even the blocker, they let in an irresponsible person with a flare that he wanted to light in Amon Amarth, but he received social justice; It is well known that a flare can lead to the cancellation of the event and we would have been left wanting to see Slipknot.
-Arde La Sangre should have gone first before NVLO, because it was noticeable that NVLO had more chemistry with the public.
-The sound at Babymetal was disastrous, luckily we were in the front row and you could hear something; Unfortunately, the fans from behind could not fully enjoy the voices, the band gave everything for the show to continue. All bands have to be treated with the same respect so that they can give a full show.
-The merch was scarce and of very poor quality; The most popular sizes XL-XXL were sold out in moments, in addition to the terrible quality of the merch.
-The cashless card system is disastrous, no matter how you look at it one way or another; You have to accept the payment method that is accessible, it is a right by law.
-Better control when selling tickets; The tickets were sold one day before the general sale due to an error on the website.
